The Making of Modern Australia is a website for an upcoming documentary made by Essential Media which will screen on ABC in 2010.
The purpose of the site was to create a place for Australians to share their stories about the modern history of their country. The documentary researchers were then able to draw on this vast resource of local knowledge to create the landmark television event.
Stories can be browsed by either the story gallery or story map or an advanced search feature. The users could also read a blog by the film makers which details their production process.
The site continues to be a resource especially for schools across Australia to tap into unique parts of our history.
